My earliest impression of Punggol was of forests, unpaved roads and lalang fields, set 15 years ago on a family trip. Initially, I hoped to revisit and portray the emotions felt back then; of peace and unfamiliarity.

However, the sound of machinery permeates throughout the district and hints of construction works could be seen encroaching into the landscape. Only a few places were left untouched and surrounded by nature, evoking the same emotions. It was a realization that these would not be here for long, as they would soon be inevitability taken over by urban development.
